Our senior executives and IT professionals have over 100 years of combined industry and business experience. Each of our senior consultants has a minimum 15 years of hands-on IT experience. It’s a select, knowledgeable group well-versed in all aspects of infrastructure design, project management, acquisition, deployment, outsourcing, business resumption strategy and IT systems support.
Our employees are an essential component of the value we bring to client relationships. Each staff member is empowered to make decisions and is expected to be responsive, accessible and flexible within our guiding principles, ensuring that we address customer needs quickly and effectively.
Executive Leadership
Richard Brown President and CEO and founding partner
Richard’s 30-plus years of IT experience that encompasses roles from the entrepreneurial to the highly technical. Richard started his career as an office equipment technician, repairing products as diverse as microfilm, medical sterilization equipment, copiers, fax machines and early computer systems. His involvement with the initial convergence of office equipment and computer systems provided a realization of the need for technology consulting partners who understood these changes and provided exemplary customer service.
Richard has authored partner training courses for Microsoft and conducted partner training events in Canada, the United States and Asia. He acted as a presenter at Microsoft’s World Wide Partner Conference for four consecutive years. Richard continues to actively conduct various courses and presentations for Microsoft, Intel and AMD. OPUS Consulting Group is the second company Richard has founded.
Bernie Berends Vice President Consulting Services and founding partner
Bernie is a 20-year veteran of the IT industry. He is also an entrepreneur, having founded two service businesses to retail, distribution and construction firms.
Jules Campeau Vice President Finance and Operations and founding partner
Jules is responsible for managing financial strategy and operations and brings over 18 years of IT experience to OPUS. He began his IT career at age 18, opening a retail software firm that evolved to become a certified partner for Microsoft providing systems integration and consulting. The company was eventually sold to IKON Office Solutions where Jules served two years as president of its Western Canadian division. Jules then joined a dynamic start-up, EntireNet LLC, where he played key roles in marketing and finance. After its sale to Veritas, Jules served as senior director of alliance channel marketing (Microsoft) before co-founding OPUS. Jules was the recipient of the Ernest and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for 2005.
Leonard Bryan Vice President Technology Services and founding partner
Leonard brings strong people skills and over 20 years IT experience to OPUS, including computer network design and implementation. Today, Leonard specializes in small business solutions and security. Previously, he worked with companies such as IKON, US Connect and Bell Technical Services.
